The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, the fruit of service is peace. -Mother Teresa
Avinu Malkeinu (My Father, My King),
Just as You called Abraham, you have called each one of us. You asked him to trust you, which is true faith. Help us to trust you like Abraham, to believe that You are who You say You are and that You will do what You promised (Gn 15.6). Sometimes it is hard for us to see the big picture, to know deep down that Your motives are pure and that You are not human, able to betray and lie (Nm 23.19). Please heal our wounds so that we can trust in Your goodness. When You ask us to release the most treasured parts of our lives into Your hands, may we surrender knowing that Your hands are safe, capable, and kind. When you call us to leave family, friends, and communities that do not serve us, help us remember that you will never leave us alone but will regather us into life-giving environments and communities (Gn 12.1). When years go by with unanswered prayers, please remind us of Your faithfulness and bring to mind every time You came through (Ex 19.4). You are good and You never fail (Dt 7.9). May we follow Your voice, seek the good for those around us, and be faithful to our family and friends. May we defend others when they become victims, give the best to others and not keep it for ourselves, open our homes and hearts to the needy, and seek God’s mercy for others, just like Abraham (Gn 13.11;14.14;18.2 & 16). Thank you for the excellent example we have of what faith and good works look like (Jm 2.22). Thank you for keeping Your promise to Abraham and multiplying his seed as an old fart, so that his faithfulness blesses the whole world (Gn 22.18). Please take the mustard seed of our faith and use it to bless others.
Love,
Brianna
