Toldot

A day without prayer is a day without blessing, and a life without prayer is a life without power.~Edwin Harvey

As we read about Jacob and Esau, Rebecca and Isaac, may we learn to guide our children to their callings, nourishing their spiritual strengths rather than their weaknesses. I pray that we have a heart like Jacob to spend time in the tents of learning, about You and Your wisdom, not in the field, consuming and exerting our dominance, like Esau.
As we age, help our spiritual eyes not to dim like Isaac’s, but may we grow in discernment and Godly wisdom until our time is up, trusting that Your plan is perfect and guiding us every step of the way.
Thank you for giving each of us a unique blessing that no one can take from us. Help us grow into the humans we need to be to handle the blessings preordained for us. Help us not to envy others’ blessings, recognizing that others have a custom-made inheritance just as we do. Please fill us with gratitude and contentment so we can fully enjoy all that you have prepared for us.
Give us discipline so that we do not waste our inheritance on a moment of impulse, symbolized by the red soup that Esau traded his birthright for, but give us the strength to endure moments of hunger, loneliness, and exhaustion to gain the reward of Your favor. May your favor be our desire, our passion, and our pursuit, just as it was for Jacob.
Thank you for shining your face on us, for creating each of us with purpose, and for providing us with everything we need to fulfill it. Even in our impatience and moments of doubt, Your faithfulness remains. Thank you that You are always present to keep Your promises, bring Your will to pass, and bring peace, even when we stir up chaos. Thank you for forgiving us in our impatience and ignorance, and for cleaning up our messes when we forget to trust in Your ability, goodness, and faithfulness. Thank you for Your blessings.

Love,
Brianna
