Shavuot

At the beginning of Genesis, in chapter one, verse one, we have two things present when Light was born. The Word of God was present and spoke, “Let there be Light,” and the Spirit of God hovered over the waters. At the appointed time of Shavuot, which we just celebrated a few days ago, God gives us two things- His Word contained in the Torah and His Spirit. Granted, they were not given at the same time in history, but they were given with the same purpose, to birth the Light of Life inside of us. Does the Word of God fulfill the creation pattern? Yes, it does.

One Day– Yeshua tells a beautiful story in the synoptic gospels called the Parable of the Sower. In this story, He tells us that the seed that the sower plants is the WORD of God. Seeds produce life, as all food comes from seeds. So the Word is the Light and Life of day one.

Proverbs 6:23: The commandment is a lamp, the Torah is light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.

1 John 1:1: What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of life.

Day Two– The dividing process of the second day is done to distinguish what comes from God in this world, or the upper waters, and what comes from the earth, or the strength of humanity. Ecclesiastes 3:21 says that in the end, what came from God will return to Him, and what came from the earth will return to it.

Hebrews 4:12: For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword—piercing right through to a separation (dividing) of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The soul is tied to the nefesh- the earthly part of humans and the Spirit is connected to the Divine Breath God placed in us initially.

Day Three– The Tree of Life had a Seed inside of itself. The Seed is the Word of God, and it sprouted on the third day, producing the Tree-Kingdom of God, which if Adam and Chavah had eaten from it, would have made them live forever (Gn 3.22). The Ruach HaKodesh, or Holy Spirit, also gives eternal life (Gal 6.8) making me think the Tree of Life is the Kingdom of God, is the Holy Spirit (Mt 12.28). They are one and the same. The trees established on the third day produce seedy fruit. Paul talks about fruit in Galatians which we can link to the Tree of Life.

Luke 8:11: Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God

Proverbs 3:13;18: Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding (two manifestations of the Holy Spirit)…She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.

Galatians 5:22-23: But the fruit of the Ruach is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—against such things there is no law.

Day Four– The stars, moon, and sun rule over the day and night. They also are commanded to divide the light from the darkness. This is done with two tools given at the fourth appointed time, Shavuot. We divide the light from darkness with His Word and Spirit. Light can be symbolic of life but also righteousness and justice. Darkness can symbolize death and also disorder caused by lawlessness.

Psalm 37:6: He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.

2 Corinthians 6:14: Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?

Day Five– The commandment God gives to the birds and fish is, “Be fruitful and multiply.” The Word of God multiplies and is fruitful.

Genesis 1:22: And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

Acts 6:7: The word of God kept on spreading (was fruitful), and the number of disciples in Jerusalem greatly multiplied; even a great number of the kohanim (priests) were becoming obedient to the faith.

Day Six– Yeshua is called the Word of God. Paul calls him the LAST ADAM. He plants the seed which sprouts the Kingdom of God.

Revelation 19:13: He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which He is called is “the Word of God.”

Matthew 13:37: He answered, “The one sowing the good seed is the Son of Man (Yeshua).”

1 Corinthians 15:45: So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.”

The scriptures do not give us a date of Yeshua’s birthday; however, I celebrate His birth at this season because the Scriptures call Him the Word of God and the full indwelling of the Spirit of God, the two things born at this time. It is not written, friends, just my opinion. Shavuot is in the center of the year, and we count down 50 days to get to this appointed time! That is pretty telling of the importance of this season. Yeshua is every part of the Tree Kingdom of God. He fulfills all of Creation by being the Seed planted on Day One, being full of the upper waters so that the division process of the second day did not affect Him. He overcame death and sprouted on the third day. He divides light from darkness as the Star Ruler who rules over the day and night (Num 24.17). He multiplies after His kind when He plants His seed into us, producing the Light of Life. He is the last Adam who becomes the Lord of the Shabbat when He defeats the enemies of sin and death, allowing us to rest. I hope you had a wonderful time celebrating Shavuot. Bless you!
